Gusti Putu Oka Guesthouse
Arrived at guesthouse we are so exhausted because of traffic jam everywhere and yes, we were getting more exhausted in guesthouse since suddenly someone occupied our room without information. We were so upset, the vice owner trying to find another room with some cashback. We accepted it, since we don't have any choice. The room is acceptably nice, the bathroom is good enough. The room in the deep silence because it's near small forest and river, it's a good point why we are going to Ubud. The owner, is very hospitable. She said apology to us, and always carry our breakfast on time. The breakfast is unexpectedly great! Thanks to her.
The bad things that we don't like in the room is the insects! While sleeping, the ants could sting anytime and we found caterpillars at certain time in front door. So disgusting!
Me and my girlfriend stayed at Gusti Putu Oka two times because it was soo nice there
Our first stay was for 3 nights and then we moved on to the Gilis , as we came back from the gilis we decided to go back to Gusti Putu Oka because all our needs were met there ( clean , air-condition, warm shower , quiet place , good breakfast , good price ) !!! And we stayed another 5 nights :D
Agung the lady who owns the place is so friendly and caring that we decided to call her our Indonesian Mum , she cleaned our room every day , made us the best pancakes we had so far on our whole trip which was 4 weeks at that time , and she is just such a good person , you'll love her :D
Whatever you need just let her know she can find a good deal for you !
We will definitely come back next time !
Enjoy your stay , because we sure did ;)
How do we know we loved this place? We originally booked for 2 nights and we ended up staying for 12. It's that good.
The homestay is in a nice quiet area of Ubud but only about 15-20 minutes walk from the centre. The host, Agung and her family were friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived until we left.
Our room was the best we stayed in Bali, and we stayed in many different places during our two month trip. It was big and spacious with a balcony outside where we would have our breakfast (of which I will go into more detail later). The bathroom was big and spotless with a seperate area for the shower. We had a 32" LG TV in the room with Indonesian channels and USB slots if you have a flashdrive with movies.
The breakfast that you get every morning is the thing I miss most about this place. You have a choice of beautiful banana pancakes drizzled with balinese honey and coconut flakes or the Balinese rum rice cakes which were equally delicious. Both were served with coffee and a bowl of fresh fruit. Agung would arrive on your balcony every morning with this breakfast serving you with a smile. Agung's dinner menu is also amazing. We had the best beef satay in Bali here.
You can book tours and massages from the homestay if you wish as well as rent scooters for a good price. On our departing day we booked transport with Agung's husband to Sanur.
If you are in Ubud you simply have to stay here, for the low price you pay you receive so much with regards to comfort, service and all-round satisfaction.
If you like waking up with the roosters, this is your place, there are many of them in the surroundings and they start the symphony at 4am and won’t stop before 9am. Breakfast is a small portion of fruit and a delicious banana crepe (but it doesn't mean I wanted to eat the same thing every day...) I asked if they had anything else and they said no.
The room was clean but pillows (all of them) were smelly, noisy air conditioning.
It is far from town and there's not much to do in the area, after 4 days I went to another guesthouse.
