Dewa Bharata Bungalow Ubud
This was a last minute booking. Check in was a breeze, but It didn't dawn on us until later that we got zero instructions (breakfast time, etc.). The room was small but comfortable but was in need of a reno. The bedding had stains and seen better days. The shower tiles were grimy. The pool looked slightly cloudy and there was mold around some of the edges. With the exception of the manager who spoke English, it was difficult to communicate with staff. We never had breakfast there because we could never figure out when breakfast was served. This property has so much potential. All is needed is a slight renovation and better upkeep. The location is excellent. We also rented a scooter from them for only 60K a day. We made the best of it though, but I wouldn't stay here again unfortunately.
dewa bharata would have to be one of the most mis-managed hotels in bali . the currrent person in charge is totally incompetant.. the sooner a professional "manager" iis employed the better. the place has potential and good bones, BUT it is not being run properly. do your get soap? NO! do you get drinking water? NO! do you want to open the toilet seat and see the previous quest's deposit because the bloody toilet doesn't work. there is absolutely no attention to detail. when was the last time a full room inspection was conducted? 5 years ago? the staff consist mainly of work experience students some some local high school, and they don't get any training, so they just play with their hand fones most of the day. breakfast is pathetic. get someone who is competent to run the place. there are colleges running courses on hotel management for the hospitality industry, sso get some one who wants a job.
We arrived in Ubud after having several previous stays in Penestenan. Our usual hotel was full so we booked here. On arrival, we were checked in by a young lady, she told us we had 2 double rooms, we had requested 1 twin room for our daughter and her friend. They told us No they didn't have any but maybe tomorrow, after a little disappointment we were shown to the rooms, they were musty and dank smelling air con took ages to cool and the bathrooms were out of the history books. The premises itself looked beautiful and with care and attention this could very a very lovely place.
We were missing some towels and were told they didnt have any more to wait till tomorrow, not happy with this, my husband managed to get them to find us some from another room. The hotel was almost empty. The folloeing morning twe asked about a twin room again and reluctantly they showed us a twin room, im sure they just couldnt be bothered to move us. Over the following 3 days, our rooms were not cleaned, beds or towels not changed and when we ran out of toilet paper we were told they didn't have any and we had to buy our own. The outdoor seating area was filthy by day 2 full of gecko poop ad dead insects, the pool was not cleaned properly until our last day and breakfast was adequate, cooked to order from 3 choices tea and coffee available all day. We only ever saw 2 staff members, a pair of teenagers who clearly couldn't get bothered and did the absolute minimum apart from mess around teasing each other. Would I stay here again.. Never
Worst hotel I have ever been in to in my 7 stays in Bali. Such a shame as it's a lovely looking building.
1st staying some months ago (I think it was room #5 - the room nearest with receptionist): clean room & toilet. Had nice stay there.
2nd staying last week (Room #8): smelly toilet. Room was not really clean but still ok.
Room cleaning wont be done unless you ask.
Provides breakfast. But really limited choice and small portion.
Had really bad experience with staff. In my 4th day staying here, around late morning, two staffs came to our room for cleaning, but then my partner asked them to clean the room later and closed the door. So, they only stayed and one of them cleaned the balcony.
Then, one of these guys started looking for something in our trash can in the balcony (no. not even cleaning it); after he found nothing, he moved to our window and tried to look inside our room; not satisfied with that, he moved to the door and tried to peek inside from the space of the door.
My partner was watching everything from the window (the left window was half closed and it was a bit dark from outside bc of the curtain, so this staff didn't realize that he was being watched) and he couldn't hold his anger anymore once this guy tried to peek trough the door. So, he opened the door and yelled at this staff for what he was doing. This guy didn't even apologize.
That is my worst hotel experience in my life. We were really upset and felt like the staffs were being disrespectful for disturbing our privacy (and even tried to peek? Seriously? Hire a pervert to work in a hotel?). I was lucky because at least I was with my partner. Definitely wont come back in this hotel anymore.
Not recommended for girl traveller (mainly when you are a solo traveller).
