Staying here at ala’s green lagoon was the best decision! My friends and I travel Bali often and this place is gorgeous, clean, comfy beds, and absolutely lovely owners and employees! They even watched our backpacks for us while we took a few days trip to a different part of the island. Truly great service and a wonderful experience. Will stay again in the future!
Choosing a place to stay in Ubud is tricky - there are too many choices! We think this budget guest house is a little gem. Just a couple of minutes walk from the hustle and bustle of Ubud centre but it feels like a different world - down a tiny alley, it’s sandwiched between some of the few remaining rice fields in the town. Nyoman, his wife and staff are welcoming and we enjoyed staying with a Balinese family with grandma sat making offerings, the kids coming home from school etc. You can help yourself to tea and coffee at any time which is a nice touch. It’s great value for a money. We stayed in the posh room - number 7 which is a bit more expensive but we thought worth it for the views. Rooms 1 and 2 have connecting balconies so good for a family. Our stay was made complete by meeting the charming resident Englishman, Trevor who has lived at the guest house for a few years and was so helpful suggesting places to eat, helping us with our visa issue etc.
Staying at Ala's Green Lagoon was wonderful! Nyoman, his family and the staff are very helpful. My room overlooking the rice paddy was amazing - I'd wake up early each morning and watch the sun come up. The bathroom was lovely and spotless. Bugs weren't a big issue. No AC but the room has a fan overhead - it was a bit warm when I went to sleep at night but cooled down to a nice temperature later on. T
he pool is clean, cool and refreshing, and you could choose to sit in the sun or shade. The breakfast was tasty - get the fruit plate! Coffee and tea are always available. The walk to Ala's past the rice paddy and courtyards of other guest houses is really charming and means you're away from the noise of the street. The wifi was good and there are chairs and a table on each room's terrace which is a great place to set up with your laptop if you need to get some things done. The staff helped arrange a driver to take me on a tour.
Highly recommend this spot when you're in Ubud. It's a little bit of a walk away from the main two streets but it's worth it to be in such a peaceful location. Eat at the warung that's just at the end of the rice paddy walkway - affordable and tasty. Synergy Spa, very nearby on Jl. Bisma, is also wonderful.
Booked online at cottage which is a short walk from the main building @ not maintained very well. 'Cottage' is a very misleading label.
Luckily we obtained x2 rooms in the actual Ala's (family-compound) which were perfect.
Delightful small pool on edge of ricefields, friendly @ helpful staff, delish brekky, hot water for tea/coffee, @ quiet location.
After taking a slow ferry (6 hours) from Lembar (Lombok), then the shuttle bus to ubud, I was a a bit frustrated finding this hotel as it was wrongly marked on map.me .
However, just immersing myself into the swimming pool and enjoyed the view of paddy field, I felt no regret for booking this hotel.
I stayed in the only single room in this hotel. It was roomy (for a single room) and came with a bath tub. The window (fixed) faced towards the wall of another hotel but you can still have a glimse of the paddy field that was great.
The swimming pool and the view of paddy field were the reason why I chose this hotel and felt no regret. I stayed 3 days in this little gem.
Staffs were all nice and helpful. Breakfast was really amazing.
The only problem is that it tags away from the major roads and you have to walk pass alleys to reach it.
